I was wondering, i want to find out my credit score, but someone i know said something about it damaging your credit when you try and find it out, is that true?
Does looking up your credit score, IE(Freecreditreport.com) Damage your credit?
No this is not true. This is considered a %26quot;soft%26quot; hit on ones credit report and does not affect your score. Only those requesting a credit report for the purpose of extending credit counts and can lower ones score if there are too many requests.
Pople shopping for a mortgage is different, as long as those requests are submitted within a 15 day period.
Hope this answers your question.

Many let you have a free trial period so you could see your report and then cancel their service but thats a pain in the *** and there is a better way to look at your credit. The site below provides three options for getting a free credit report as well as how to understand your reports once you get them.

Checking your own credit has no effect on your FICO credit score. They only consider checks by others on your file in determining your score. Multiple checks within a short time period are treated as one check.
You are entitled to a free credit report from each of the major credit bureaus every year. There are 3 bureaus so you can check your credit for free without any marks against you 3 times per year. t.
