you are indeed correct, its a catch 22 basically, you want to build ur credit but inturn it affects your credit to apply. lame, i know. but thats the way the cookie crumbles.

i%26#039;ve heard that is no longer true: it was until recently (like a year maybe) but now you are not punished nor are prescreening inqueries counted

it is supposed to be counted only if it was you applying for credit

I%26#039;m not really sure, but I heard it does. One thing that I do know is, the more credit cards you have drops your score too. So its best to just have maybe 1 or 2.
