How do I increase my credit score?

I currently run at a 673, which is considered fair. I would love to get it up to good and excellent. I have no outstanding balances and no late payments. My credit is new though, which could be a factor in my fair score. What are some things that I can do to get it better?

How do I increase my credit score?

1. Always pay on time or ahead of time.

2. maintain low balances on credit cards

3. keep your total potential debt to earnings load low - If you have a card with a $15000 credit line, you may ask them to reduce it to something more realistic, like $5000.

4. I was told by an underwriter that having just two cards, a major credit card (VISA, MC) and a consumer card (Sears, best buy, etc...) is the best mix for revolving credit.

5. You should have a recent history of both installment or term (Car or house loans) and revolving credit.

Just continue making all payments on time every month. Give it time and your score will go up. You may want to open a new account and charge a couple things. Make payments each month. When you have companies giving you positive comments and reports to the credit bureaus, your score will improve. However, before anyone issues credit, they will probably run a credit check. This in itself could lower your score. You also may want to check with your local bank. Get their advice as well. But as long as your payments are on time, it will improve. Just takes some time.

Make sure you always pay on time, and if you aren%26#039;t paying the balance off each month, pay more than the minimum payment, even if it%26#039;s $5 (actually shows up as %26quot;paid more than minimum%26quot; on my report). You say you have no outstanding balances - if you have no balances on your credit cards, use them once a month for something small that you know you can pay off, and pay it on time. Your score will gradually improve.
