How long would it take for my credit score to go back up once I pay off my credit cards?

I have 2 credit cards that I am in the process of cleaning up and paying off. Once I get that sorted out, how long would it be before my credit score gets back to a better number?

Your credit score will reflect the zero balances no more than two months after you finally pay off the cards. That%26#039;s a worst-case scenario caused by the fact that the credit card company reports your balance only once each month and the credit bureau updates your credit report only once each month also. If the timing is bad between the two updates, there might be close to a two month lag time in getting the correct info reported in your credit score. If the timing is good, the lag could be as little as a few days.

Once you pay off old debt you have to rebuild your credit by making purchases and paying them off before they are due.It will take at least 2 years in most cases.Sometimes 36 months.Depends on if they are high end purchases or small ones.

Do what I did. Pay it off then go to the credit reporting agencies and dispute it as paid in full. That sped up the process from two to three months to less than 30 days.
